Dear Jim Falls Elementary School Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to November! We are excited for the new month, especially after the Brewers big win!
November is a great time to think about what we are thankful for. At our Halloween assembly, our staff dressed up as superheroes. We taught the students that gratitude is like a superpower. It helps us notice all the good things people do for us every day, like parents helping us get ready in the morning and teachers making our classrooms welcoming.
As we shift to November, we look forward to hosting Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 5th and 10th from 3:00-7:00 pm. Conferences are a great time to connect with your child's teacher on academics and social-emotional learning, which helps connect home and school. If you need help finding a time or changing your time, please contact the office.
Additionally, we will host a Veterans Day program on November 11th. The presentation will run from 8:00 to 8:15. All are welcome to attend. It will be in front of the school by the flag. We will also share a Veterans Day slideshow on our school TV during the week of November 9th. If you have a family member or friend who served in the military and you would like to honor them, please email their picture and name to koenigkn@chipfalls by Friday, November 6th. If you sent a photo last year, we still have it saved and will use it again.
As the weather gets colder, please send your child to school with warm clothes for outdoor recess. If your child needs a winter coat, boots, or gloves, please contact their teacher or the office. We are happy to help make sure every child has what they need to stay warm.
Finally, I invite you to read the rest of this newsletter to stay informed about upcoming events, such as PTO Craft Night, Deck the Halls, 5th grade volleyball and more.
As always, thank you for everything you do daily for our students.
Soaring with Eagle Pride,
Kari Koenig

After school transportation changes: Please call the office by 1pm to ensure that we receive your message. Please do NOT send messages to staff regarding changes in case the staff member is not here that day or they are busy and unble to access their messages in time.
All student rerouting requests will originate at Go Riteway. Student rerouting requests require a 24 hour notice and approval by the bus company. This includes one time and/or occasional rerouting requests. Please call 715-726-2454 if you have any questions or concerns. Please click here for more information regarding rerouting requests. If a student's afternoon transportation plans vary week to week, please provide the teacher, the office, and the bus company a monthly calendar to insure that your child gets to their intended location.
Medical Absences: Will be exempt with a note from the doctor. Notes can be sent to school with your child or faxed to the office at 715-720-3262.
Classroom Treats: Should be store bought in individually wrapped packages. We need to be able to read the nutritional label for dietary accommodations.
Handle with Care: If your family is experiencing difficulty at home, we would like to provide additional support at school. We understand that details are not always to be shared and that is okay. If your child is coming to school after a difficult night, morning, or weekend, please Mrs. Koenig, "Handle with Care" to my email at koenigkn@chipfalls.org. Nothing else will need to be said or asked. This will let me and all other staff know that your child may need extra time, patience, help, and a lot of love during the school day. As always we are a TEAM and we want to help your child thrive in our Jim Falls family.
Food Service Payments: Payments can be made on the Infinite Campus portal under the food service tab. The free and reduced lunch application is also located on your Infinite Campus parent portal by selecting "more" then "meal benefits".
Weekend Kids Meals: The Jim Falls Community Food Pantry has been providing food assistance to the families of the Jim Falls school for over 15 years. One of the services we provide is "Weekend Kids Meals." Each Friday, we make available an assortment of non-perishable healthy food products geared toward the children to send home with them for the weekend. If this is something you would like to participate in, please enter your information here.

2026–2027 Budget & Levy Approval
Like many public school districts across the state, our district continues to navigate a challenging financial landscape shaped by state funding structures and rising operational costs. Despite these challenges, we take pride in our fiscal management, ensuring the budget is aligned to School Board expectations and to support our schools.
We extend our gratitude to our dedicated teachers, administrators, staff, and board
members, who work every day to provide the highest quality education for our students.
Thank you for your continued support and investment in our children's future.

Winter weather can change quickly in Wisconsin. When winter weather strikes, we have four options for adjusting our days.
Cancellation -- If we cancel, we will make this decision by 6:00 am on the day of the event, at the latest. This means all schools, Head Start, Early Childhood, 4K Cardinal programs, after-school programs, and public use of buildings are canceled for the day. The school district buildings are considered “closed.”
Remote Learning Day – If a high chance of inclement weather is predicted the District may proactively call for a Remote Learning Day. Students participate in remote home-based instruction as provided by their instructors (decision by 6:00 am).
Two Hour Delay -- If we delay, we will make this decision by 6:00 am, like above. The school day starts two hours later than normally scheduled.
- Buses run two hours behind their normal schedule.
- No breakfast is served.
- School lunch will be served at or near the normally scheduled time.
- 4K Cardinal is canceled for the full day.
- Early Childhood is canceled for the full day.
- Head Start is canceled for the full day.
- After school programs and public use of buildings may still occur.
If a Two Hour Delay becomes a Cancellation, this decision will be made by 8:00 am.
Early Release -- If we release early, we will make this decision by 10:00 am. Elementary schools release at 12:00 pm; and secondary schools release at 1:00 pm.
- Lunch is at or near the normally scheduled time.
- The high school lunch will run from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Open campus lunch allows students with their own transportation to leave at 12:00 pm.
- Afternoon 4K Cardinal is canceled.
- Head Start is canceled for the afternoon and will be released at 11:05 am.
- Afternoon Early Childhood is canceled.
- After school programming and public use of buildings is canceled.
We plan to communicate any weather-related decisions in the following ways:
- Local TV and radio
- District website, district social media
- ParentSquare notifications
We monitor the weather closely in the winter, especially when school schedule changes are a possibility. Our number one priority in our decision-making is the safety of our students. Weather cancellations are tough decisions because we realize that last-minute changes in the school schedule create inconveniences for families and staff members. We take great care in each situation to use the information available to us to make the best decision we can. Please note that an excessive number of closings may result in instructional make-up days if we are unable to utilize remote learning days.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brad Saron, Superintendent

I am excited to share with you our monthly SOAR award winners. Each month, the teachers select one or two students from their class who have consistently shown excellent behavior and character. We believe it is important to celebrate these achievements and encourage all of our students to strive to be their best. Students selected are recognized at the monthly all-school assembly. They are then honored with a special lunch with Mrs. Koenig, have their pictures displayed on the hallway bulletin board, have their picture on the hallway TV and receive a Jim Falls SOARing Eagles pin and certificate.
The students below showed exemplary leadership in the areas of safety, offering kindness, acting responsibly, and respecting others!

In order to encourage healthy and well students to attend school each day, Jim Falls Elementary will have a monthly drawing for Free Culver's Kids Meal. All students who have no unexcused tardies or unexcused absences will be entered into the monthly drawing.
October Winners: Harper, Eli, Benton, Colby, Lilly and Slade
